I am an assistant professor of Geography at the University of Washington in Seattle. I research questions of race and nature as they relate to migration, borderlands and conservation. My first book, Green Wars: Conservation and Decolonization in Guatemala's Maya Forest , will be published in December 2017 by the University of California Press. I am also beginning a new project on migration, detention and deportation on Mexico's southern border.
I teach classes including: Environmental Justice (Winter 2018); Race, Nature & Power (Spring 2018); and a graduate seminar on Critical Race & Postcolonial Geographies (Winter 2018). If you're a UW student hoping to meet with me, please email me to schedule an appointment.
If you are applying to our geography graduate program (MA/PhD), please look over my teaching & advising page and write me a brief email.
