Conservation & Security

"Google-Funded Drones to Hunt Rhino Poachers" (Mother Jones)
With Alice B. Kelly (NSF Postdoctoral Fellow, UC Berkeley), I co-edited a themed issue in Geoforum exploring the role of securitization in conservation and protected areas management.

The special issue is published in the February 2016 issue of Geoforum, including the following:
  • "Green Security in Protected Areas" by Alice B. Kelly & Megan Ybarra
  • "'Blind Passes' and the Production of Green Security through Violence on the Guatemalan border" by Megan Ybarra

Rosaleen Duffy also has an open-access intervention on Just Conservation that explains: "Ivory does not fund Al Shabaab, so why was that message so readily promoted?"
